Mercedes-Benz F125 Hydrogen Gullwing Concept unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show

The Mercedes-Benz F125 Hydrogen Concept has been unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new concept features a full hydrogen powertrain and a stunning, exotic new body design.

The Mercedes-Benz F125 Concept is said to preview styling elements that will feature on the future-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class and CL-Class ranges. It was also designed to celebrate Mercedes-Benz's 125th anniversary.

Powering the concept are four electric motors that are driven by a hydrogen fuel cell. Combined, they produce 172kW of power, which Mercedes-Benz says, is enough to propel the F125 Concept from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.

A full tank of hydrogen is said to provide a range of 998km. As a back-up, the Mercedes-Benz F125 Concept also comes with a lithium-ion electric battery system which is able to provide an emergency range of around 50km.

More details and images are expected to follow at the F125's official unveiling later today. Stay tuned for updates throughout the day.
