Lamborghini Aventador crash – that didn’t take long

The Lamborghini Aventador is the latest and greatest in the raging bull's stable, and hasn't been out for very long. So, it had to happen at some point - there always is a first - but no-one expected it so soon.

This poor white model came to grief in Italy during an overtaking manoeuvre, when the driver didn't quite judge the line of cars he was about to pass too well.

GTSpirit reports that as the driver overtook, the truck up front moved to the left to turn and with nowhere to go, the Aventador's wheel clipped the truck. That sent it into a spin and then went through a sign, a telephone pole and a fence before ending up in a ditch.

As a testament to the strength of the carbon-fibre monocoque, the cage was barely damaged, and the driver walked away uninjured.

Good news that no-one was hurt, but it's always sad to see exotic metal (or should that be carbon-fibre) in a sorry state. Especially one that's worth $789,000.
