RSC hypercar with 2089kW and 3498Nm coming in 2012

If we told you there was a small German company planning to produce a new hypercar with 2089kW of power, 3498Nm of torque, and a 0-600km/h acceleration time of 7.0 seconds, you’d probably think the fumes from the test cars had finally gotten to us at CarAdvice HQ.

But Rotary Supercars Germany (RSC) says a hypercar with these very specs is on the way, and we won’t have to wait long to jump behind the wheel, if RSC can be believed.

The German manufacturer says a prototype of the 52R4T hypercar will be unveiled at the 2012 Top Marques Monaco show in April (surprisingly not on April Fools’ Day, but on April 19) before series production begins later next year.

The RSC hypercar will be powered by a 5.2-litre quad-turbocharged eight-rotor rotary engine with about the same power as five Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercars.

RSC says accelerating from 0-100km/h will take just nine-tenths of a second – about a quarter of the time it takes a Porsche 911 GT2 RS to hit the same mark.

Sprinting from 0-300km/h is all over in about the time it takes a Ferrari 458 Italia to get to 100km/h.

This type of brain-mushing acceleration is comparable to the performance of the fastest top fuel dragsters, which pound from 0-160km/h in about 0.7 seconds and can exceed 535km/h by the end of the quarter mile (402m), which takes less than 4.5 seconds.

Believe it or not, RSC says it’s not all about speed, with plans to fit the cabin with convenience features like satellite navigation (presumably if you happen to blast yourself off into space).

RSC plans to build 12 hypercars per year, with the first deliveries commencing in 2013.

The biggest question is: will it actually happen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
