Aston Martin V12 Zagato production road car revealed

Aston Martin has given us our first glimpse at the production version of the all-new Aston Martin V12 Zagato ahead of the gorgeous coupe’s limited production run, which is on track for the middle of 2012.

The two images reveal the road-going design, which fortunately, is largely unchanged from the Aston Martin V12 Zagato Concept that was unveiled in unforgettable blood-orange paintwork in Italy in March.

The 2012 Aston Martin V12 Zagato is based on the V12 Vantage. It features a handcrafted aluminium and carbon fibre body and is powered by a 6.0-litre engine with 380kW of power and 570Nm of torque (the same as the Vantage).

Next month’s 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show will host the largest ever display of Aston Martin vehicles at any motor show, but unfortunately the production V12 Zagato won’t be part of it.

In its place, Aston Martin will show the two cars that competed at the Nurburgring 24-hour race, affectionately known as ‘Zig’ and ‘Zag’.

Zig is finished in its distinctive green racing livery and is fitted with the full aerodynamics package, while Zag has been restored on the exterior to be more representative of the upcoming road car.

Just 150 Aston Martin V12 Zagato sports cars will ever be produced. The V12 Zagato will be available in Australia, with prices tipped to start around the $700,000 mark.
