The all-new Lexus GS 350 was officially unveiled last Friday after months of spy shots, teasers and speculation.
At the launch of the new luxury sports sedan in Pebble Beach, California, Lexus Australia CEO Tony Cramb told CarAdvice the GS 350 F Sport variant was likely to go on sale in Australia from launch alongside the standard model in either May or June 2012.
Although no official details have been confirmed yet, expect the new F Sport variant to score the usual performance upgrades from Lexus, including retuned suspension, uprated brakes, and a number of sports styling enhancements inside and out.
Some visual tweaks are already evident in the teaser shot, with a unique grille, front side air intake and alloy wheel design mirroring previous F Sport upgrades.
The new GS 350 F Sport will debut at the SEMA Show in Los Angeles in November.
The new GS line will be the next to offer an F Sport variant, although it won’t be the last for Australia.
Mr Cramb confirmed Lexus Australia was hoping to double the number of F Sport vehicles in its line-up in the short term. There are already F Sport models in the CT 200h, IS 250 and IS 350 ranges. Along with GS 350, the RX 350 and LS 460 would appear to be the most likely candidates for the performance enhancements, although he refused to go into detail.
Meanwhile, our first look at the next GS will come in the form of the Lexus GS 450h, when it hits the stand at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13. Mechanical details of this vehicle are still under wraps but should be released at the show.
The new Lexus GS 450h will go on sale in Australia in the second half of next year.
