Audi Urban Concept Spyder to be unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show
Last week Audi announced it would be unveiling a special Audi Urban Concept vehicle at the upcoming 2011 Franktfurt Motor Show in Germany, showcasing an ultra-compact city car design. News has it Audi will unveil an Audi Urban Concept Sypder version as well.
Audi has released some sketches of the Spyder version which is believed to sport much of the same philosophy as the hard top Urban Concept. This means it will be powered by two lithium-ion e-tron electric motors, with the entire 'pod' supported by an elaborate suspension system.
The same focus on engineering has also been applied to the Spyder version, in that it will offer a lightweight construction with plenty of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer, and take efficiency and compactness to extreme levels.
Inside, that 1+1 slightly staggered seating layout will remain as will the futuristic shapes and patterns spread throughout the dash, steering wheel and seat construction.
Reports suggest the Audi Urban Concept Spyder will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month along side the original hard top version. An environmentally friendly guilt-free open-top dune buggy anyone?
