2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible spied at the Nurburgring

Jaguar has just been spotted testing the new Jaguar XKR-S Convertible at the Nurburgring. This is the first time the variant has been spotted in public and it appears to be wearing very little in the way of disguise or camouflaging.

Like the recently released 2011 Jaguar XKR-S unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, Jaguar is planning a drop-top version which will offer the same high-performance personality and style.

It will feature an equally aggressive bodykit with added vents and fins over the standard XKR model, and sport an uprated tyre and wheel package. Other features will include a sports suspension setup, a sporty interior layout with plenty of leather and aluminium, as well as two 16-way electric buckets seats.

Under  the bonnet, the XKR-S Convertible is expected to feature the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine as the coupe producing a whopping 405kW of power and 680Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-100km/h could potentially be dealt with in under 4.5 seconds.

By the looks of this test car, it appears Jaguar is in the final stages of testing the convertible version and is doing some serious laps around the Nurburgring. Also notice the inclusion of a roll cage inside the test car, which may suggest Jaguar is in time attack mode.

The 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible is expected to be unveiled sometime later in the year, with market entry likely to take place in 2012.
