Last week, Lamborghini released invitations to the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show with a clue that the company would unveil something special. The invitation said, "discover a new Lamborghini super sports car at the next Frankfurt show."
Since then, various rumours have been circulating, with some suggesting the mystery Lamborghini would be a higher-tuned 'LP' version of the recently launched Lamborghini Aventador, while others have suggested it could be the road-going version of the Sesto Elemento.
Auto Express in the UK seems fairly confident it knows what it is going to be. A recent report says as a last hurrah, a send off to the Gallardo - which will be replaced next year - Lamborghini will unveil the most powerful and most seriously focused version called the Lamborghini Gallardo ST (Super Trofeo).
The Super Trofeo is a track-only one-make racing Gallardo that has already been created by Lamborghini, but according to the report, the Italian company is planning on releasing a limited run of road-going versions of the car. The Gallardo ST is believed to be positioned above the Gallardo Superleggera in terms of performance, offering more power and less weight.
Of course, it's unknown at this stage just how much more power the special version will have, or how much weight it will lose over the standard Gallardo. As, potentially, the last Gallardo to ever be made (if the report is true), we expect it to be one special Lambo. We'll be sure to keep you updated as soon as we hear more.
In the meantime, feel free to speculate about what car Lamborghini will unveil in the comments section below.
