2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe M Sport spy shots

BMW has been spotted road testing the upcoming 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe fitted with the M Sport pack. This is the first time we've seen a sporty version of the new model out during testing.

Like other M Sport option packs on BMW's current line-up, the 6 Gran Coupe M Sport looks like it will get large alloy wheels, a subtle yet aggressive front bumper bar layout and lower spoiler, as well as an equally sporty rear bumper bar layout.

From the side, it's easy to spot that this prototype is indeed the Gran Coupe, with its curved and swooped roofline and chunky coupe-like C-pillar behind the rear doors. The bootlid also showcases the new 2013 BMW 6 Series Coupe and Convertible design.

As for the engines, the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is expected to come with the same range of powerplants as seen in the regular 6 Series Coupe. This means it will get, at least initially, the 3.0-litre TwinPower turbo petrol six-cylinder unit and the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.

The new model will be BMW's answer to the somewhat popular Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Audi A7 Sportback four-door coupe models. Reports say it is likely to hit the showrooms sometime in 2012.
