2011 MINI RAY stock boost for Australia

MINI Australia has received extra supply of its entry-level 2011 MINI RAY model.

An additional 200 MINI RAY vehicles will hit Australian showrooms in 2011, after the original allocation of 300 vehicles sold out in just three months.

MINI Australia says significant demand from international markets means our supply for 2011 will be capped at 500.

Based on the MINI Cooper hatch, the MINI RAY is available from just $25,500 plus on-road costs, or $28,800 driveaway. The standard MINI Cooper is priced from $31,650 before on-roads, and more than $35,000 once on the road.

The MINI RAY is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 72kW of power and 153Nm of torque. That’s 18kW and 7Nm less than the standard MINI Cooper.

The RAY’s combined cycle fuel consumption eclipses the standard Cooper (5.4 litres/100km vs 5.8 litres/100km), although it takes an extra 1.4 seconds to sprint from 0-100km/h (10.5 seconds vs 9.1 seconds).

Coinciding with the announcement of additional stock of MINI RAY, MINI Australia has also announced its Chilli Package will now come standard across its MINI Hatch, Cabrio and Clubman models.

The upgrade varies from model to model, but each model will now benefit from a wheel upgrade, automatic climate control and cloth/leather combination upholstery.

MINI Australia enjoyed its strongest July on record in 2011. Its 226 sales was more than 50 per cent ahead of the same month in 2010. For the year, MINI is down almost 10 per cent compared with the first seven months of 2010 (1248 vs 1380).
