Nissan Cube Spy Photos

We first saw the Denki Cube at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, but that “Denki” which is Japanese for “electric” does not apply in this case as the prototype photographed here is actually the next-generation petrol-powered 2009 Nissan Cube.

There is a very good chance a hybrid might still be following as the Denki Cube concept car is still part of Nissan's Green Program 2010, focusing on wide-ranging environmental improvements from reduction of CO2 and exhaust emissions to improving recycling efficiency.

The recent announcement that Nissan and NEC had joined to make AESC to produce lithium ion batteries indicates that Nissan is serious about catching up to its two Japanese rivals in the hybrid game.
