Ford Fiesta SUV spied in UK

A Ford Fiesta SUV prototype test car was recently spotted in London, UK, showcasing a very obvious jumped up suspension and chassis layout. The car is thought to be Ford's answer to the Nissan Juke (not available in Australia) compact SUV.

This image, as well as others recently published on Auto Express in the UK, clearly show a high-riding Ford Fiesta layout. Rumours have being going around for a while now about Ford developing a Fiesta-based SUV, but if we needed any more proof, this is it.

The Fiesta SUV will showcase more than just a raised ride-height, reports say it will possess a wider front track for a more imposing stance, but also to maintain relevant stability now that the centre of gravity is higher up.

The Fiesta SUV prototype seen here is using temporary stock steel wheels as Ford is apparently still testing various suspension setups. The eventual production version will use a larger 16-inch alloy-type wheel wrapped in some degree of all-terrain tyre.

Reports say this version is fitted with an EcoBoost 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is evident by a large single-outlet exhaust poking out from the back.

Ford is still yet to confirm or deny its existence, but a Ford Fiesta SUV is expected to debut at a large international motor show within the next year. We'll keep you updated.
