Aston Martin Cygnet – Sir Stirling Moss buys one

British motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss is one of the first customers to have purchased the all-new Aston Martin Cygnet, which he presented to his wife Lady Moss at London’s esteemed Royal Automotive Club last night, much to her surprise.

Apparently, Sir Stirling had been planning the event with Aston Martin HQ ever since he first saw a pre-production Cygnet back in January this year and realised that …“It was the perfect car for Susie; a proper little piece of English luxury and perfect for our life in town.”

Like all Aston Martins, the cygnet is hand built over a period of 150 hours with meticulous attention to detail using the best possible materials and design work. The opportunity for customers to personalise their Aston Martin naturally applies to the Cygnet city car too, and as such, Sir Stirling made some fine choices.

The exterior colour he chose was Aston Martin Racing Green, which goes back to cars like the beautiful Aston Martin DBR1/2, which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959. Inside, the choice of hand crafted Obsidian Black leather with a contrasting silver stitch (coarse texture) forms a rather understated look.

Aston Martin has a history of long standing relationships with many of it’s dealers, but none more so that HWM Aston Martin in Walton-on-Thames. The dealership have been trading in the marque since its appointment in 1951. Started by John heath and Aston Martin works driver George Abecassis, who incidentally, gave Sir Stirling one of his first Formula drives, it was HWM who supplied the car for this special purchase by Sir Stirling.
