World’s Fastest Four-Seater Cabrio

Meet the BRABUS 800 E V12 Cabrio

That’s 800 hp (596 kW) and peak torque of a gauge blowing 1420 Nm, which is electronically limited to 1100 Nm for long- term durability.

The speedometer tops out at 400 km/h (250 mph) but it won’t get there. Top speed for this cabrio is just 370km/h (231 mph), which for those lucky enough to be riding in the rear seats would be quite a ride.

BRABUS takes the three-valve V12 engine from the current Mercedes-Benz S 600 and completely modifies all aspects of this already massively powerful powerplant. From the special crankshaft, larger pistons, increased cylinder bore and cylinder heads for optimised mixture flow to sports camshafts, it’s all been re-worked for more speed.

The BRABUS biturbo system has four water-to-air intercoolers, which along with integrated larger turbochargers, ensure significant power gains. Of course, the standard engine displacement has been increased from 5.5 litres to 6.3 litres.

You can forget about using standard lubricants in the BRABUS 800 too. What you’ll need are specially developed fluids from technology partner ARAL, which develops high-tech lubricants that can with stand the sheer heat that this engine develops at these sublime speeds.

Naturally, aerodynamics play an enormously important role in such a unique automobile and as such there are a range of sophisticated aerodynamic aides that ensure directional stability at such enormous speed. These have been fully tested in a wind tunnel and are fabricated in high-strength carbon fibre.

BRABUS have also widened the body of the E-Class Cabriolet so as to accommodate the extra-wide 9.5Jx19 wheels shod with 265/30 ZR tyres. On the rear you’ll find 10-inch wheels shod with super wide 295/30 ZR tyres for as much traction as possible, given the 0-100km/h spint time of 3.7 seconds. Push on, and the BRABUS will reach 200km/h in 9.9 seconds. Remember, this is a four-seat cabriolet.

The BRABUS 800 E V12 is indeed impressive, but at 480,000 Euro per car, I’m not sure I’d go for the lipstick red leather interior. Would you?
