2012 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special Edition Coupe

The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special Edition Coupe has been revealed just hours from the international premiere of the third installment in the sci-fi francise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Styled like the film’s Autobot hero, Bumblebee, the limited edition Transformers Camaro Coupe will be available in the US, Canada, China, Europe, Japan, South America and the Middle East.

The 2012 Transformers kit will be offered as a $US3000 package on 2LT and 2SS Camaro Coupes with Rally Yellow paint and the RS appearance package.

Transformers Camaros will score black stripes that spread across the bonnet, roof, boot lid and rear spoiler; 20-inch black-painted alloy wheels with high performance tyres; and Autobot shield logos on the wheels and front quarter panels.

Inside, the Camaro features black leather with yellow stitching across the instrument panel, centre console, armrests and seats. Autobot shields are also embroidered on the front headrests and centre console lid.

Last week, CarAdvice reported on the impact of the Transformers films on Camaro sales, and Chevrolet vice president and marketing, Rick Scheidt, again emphasised the how important the connection had been to relaunching the hero car.

"The Transformers franchise has helped introduce Camaro – and Chevrolet – to a whole new generation of fans," Mr Scheidt said.

"Its role in the films helped make the Camaro the best-selling sports car in America, and one of the best-known cars of any kind around the world."

Orders for the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special Edition Coupe begin in July with the first deliveries to the US and Canada to begin in September.
