VW Scirocco 24-hour Nurburgring entry

To show off the performance credentials of its brand new Scirocco, Volkswagen has begun preparing a special race version coupe for the 24-hour Nurburgring race.

The car is powered by the same 224kW 2.0 TFSI engine as used in last year's class winning Golf GTi hatch entry and features a DSG gearbox with steering wheel mounted shift paddles.

Volkswagen will be running three of these specially prepared Scirocco race cars with two-time Le Mans winner Hans-Joachim Stuck and two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz among the list of drivers.

The cars are currently undergoing testing on the Nordschleife circuit in preparation for the official race on 24/25 May.
