Renault Megane RS Nurburgring teaser

Renault and Renault Sport have released a teaser preview of an upcoming new Renault Megane RS (Renault Sport) model that is set to be unveiled on June 17.

There's been no word on what the model is exactly. It could be the updated 2012 Renault Megane RS, or perhaps a special edition with more power and less weight. Judging from the on-track Nurburgring footage below, the car sure looks exciting, whatever it is. It appears to be very agile and stable through high-speed sweepers, even with the tail out, in true Renault Sport style.

The existing Renault Megane RS features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 184kW of power and 340Nm of torque. It's also able to sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds. These figures are expected to be increased and decreased (respectively) with the announcement of the new model, providing an even faster package.

The Renault Megane RS has been praised by many motoring experts and driving enthusiasts since it first went on sale in 2004. The new model is likely to offer even higher levels of mind-bending interaction and handling prowess. Stay tuned for our updates on the car on June 17. In the meantime, take a look at the preview video below for a quick taste of what to expect.
