2012 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster confirmed

The Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4 Roadster will go on sale internationally in 2012, even though the Italian supercar manufacturer is yet to directly confirm it.

Details of the topless Aventador Roadster have appeared on the US Department of Energy’s fueleconomy.gov website in the latest wave of 2012 model year updates for the online vehicle database.

US publication Left Lane News stumbled across the information for the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster.

The Roadster’s combined cycle fuel consumption of 18.1 litres/100km will be the same as the Aventador Coupe, while the city (21.4 litres/100km) and highway (13.8 litres/100km) figures are also carried over.

The 2012 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster will feature the same mechanical package as the Coupe version, meaning the 6.5-litre V12 engine will continue to produce 515kW of power and 690Nm of torque.

The Coupe version, which will make its local debut at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne on July 1, will be priced from $789,000 when it goes on sale in Australia.

If the superseded Murcielago is anything to go by, expect a price premium of around $25,000 for the topless version of the Aventador.
