JOSS JP1 CGI to be revealed at 2011 Australian International Motor Show

Australian International Motor Show attendees will get their first look at the production version of the locally developed JOSS supercar on July 1.

JOSS Developments will unveil a computer-generated preview of the production model, codenamed JP1, along with a pre-production evaluation vehicle and a wind tunnel model.

The JOSS JP1 will become Australia’s first mid-engined supercar. It will be powered by an all-aluminium V8 with more than 370kW and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of less than 3.0 seconds. JOSS predicts it will come with a price tag of more than $500,000, although the company is yet to confirm when the car will be ready to roll.

JOSS Developments’ technical director, Matt Thomas, said the return to the motor show in Melbourne – seven years after JOSS’s first appearance – would remind Australians that the homegrown supercar manufacturer was the real deal.

“We had an amazing reception for our JT1 prototype in Melbourne several years ago, but building a car business is very involved,” Mr Thomas said.

“So JOSS Developments has spent the last few years working on the business: building investment, working with our technical suppliers, and putting in place the right people so that when we launch JP1 the company will be geared up to deliver a great product to the market.”
