Aston Martin V12 Zagato wins the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award

One look at Aston Martin’s extraordinary V12 Zagato and it was obvious that the latest collaboration between the English Sports Car Company and the Italian design company had produced another iconic automotive creation.

You would be hard pressed to come up with a more prestigious location than the Villa D’Este on Italy’s stunning lake Como. It’s also the home of the world’s most coveted automotive event, the Concourso D’Eleganza, for Concept Cars and Prototypes.

This unique Aston Martin managed to edge out the entire field of nine other entries from around the world to clinch the top prize after being voted the best in class.

For many of the world’s most prolific car collectors, the V12 Zagato will be a must have addition to their collection, as you can bet that numbers will be limited.

Aston Martin’s biggest fan is Dr Ulrich Bez, who just happens to be the CEO of the company and was obviously excited when he said: “We are thrilled to see that this car conquered people’s hearts. With the V12 Zagato we managed to add just another successful chapter both to the history of Aston Martin and the future of our brand. This is an exciting car, powerful and incredibly beautiful.”

Marek Reichman, Design Director at Aston Martin was gracious in the win when he added: “It is an honour to win this award in Italy, where many great designs originated from, and this victory shows that Aston Martin has successfully developed their own renowned design language over the past years. The result is a car that incorporates the core values of the Zagato design language which we perfectly translated into Aston Martin’s modern design DNA.”

Currently the V12 Zagato has been built as a racing car, which will be tried and tested at its debut in the 53rd ADAC ACAS H&R-Cup VLN race this Saturday, 28th May. That will also be a lead up to two of these cars which will run in the legendary Nurburgring 24 hour race on 25th and 26th of June. This is where Aston Martin officially signs off on every new model before going into production. Dr Bez went on to say that, “The 24 hour race is the ultimate road test and a fitting introduction for the V12 Zagato.”

The good news is that the immensely positive reaction from customers and visitors at Villa D’Este, means that the company will most likely offer a road going version of the V12 Zagato as soon as possible.
