2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35

The 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 will celebrate the 35th birthday of the famous Golf GTI with more power and some special styling enhancements.

The GTI Edition 35 will be powered by a revised version of the 2.0-litre TSI engine. Maximum power is up 18kW to 173kW. Torque and acceleration times are yet to be confirmed.

Visually, the Edition 35 gets revised front and rear bumpers, smoky light lenses, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, glossy black plastic grille and side mirror trim, new alloy wheels, new seats and ‘35’ badging inside and out.

The GTI Edition 35 will be launched at the 2011 Wörthersee hot hatch festival in Austria on June 1, with prices starting from €30,425 ($40,500) in Germany. The standard Golf GTI is priced from €27,275 ($36,300) in its domestic market.

Unfortunately, the GTI Edition 35 is likely to be a European-only delicacy, although it is understood Volkswagen Australia has not completely given up hope of bringing a small number Down Under.

A Volkswagen Australia representative has been contacted about the potential of a local launch. We will update the story as soon as we hear more.
