Dartz Prombron Nagel armoured sportback by Gray Design

Gray Design, known for creating weird, wonderful and interesting concept cars and designs, has just released details of its latest creation. It's called the Dartz Prombron Nagel and it's regarded as the world's first armoured sportback SUV, which has been developed, specifically, for towing yachts.

Why anyone would need an armoured sportback SUV for towing their yacht is beside the point. It was created as an artistic and technological exercise showcasing how design and functionality can be blended together. It was also created to celebrate Dartz Promobron's 100th birthday, a company which started out life under the name Russo-Balt (one of the first ever Russian automotive manufacturers).

Featuring a special engine of undisclosed detail producing 1492kW of power, Gray Design says the Nagel can tow yachts up to 15 metres in length and at speeds up to 250km/h. It's also very safe and completely bulletproof thanks to its KAPSULA platform.

We're not so sure about the look of the thing though. It's understandably chunky due to its armoured nature but if you're living in between battlefields of some sort, and just want to tow your yacht down to the river without being bothered by bullets and hand-grenade shrapnel, then we're sure this car will do the job perfectly.

According to reports, the car is set to go on sale sometime in 2012, but we'll believe it when we see it. Prices are yet to be announced.
