Citroen DS5 teased ahead of Auto Shanghai 2011 unveiling

Citroen has released the first teaser image of the upcoming Citroen DS5 ahead of its official unveiling at next week’s Auto Shanghai 2011 motor show.

The image was posted on Citroen’s Facebook page, as the French manufacturer plans to stream the unveiling live online to fans of the DS5 over the social networking site.

The DS5 will become the third model in the new bespoke sports-luxury DS sub-brand, following the launch of the DS3 and DS4 hatchbacks.

As revealed in our earlier spy photos, the DS5 is likely to be offered only as a wagon, and not in sedan form. The DS5 estate is expected to take on a crossover form with a more bolstered stance than the C5 estate, but still promising to maintain a classic aerodynamic DS design.

So far, we understand the DS5 will feature an all-new hydropneumatic suspension set-up and could also be powered by a diesel-hybrid powertrain, with the internal combustion engine powering the front wheels and an electric motor spinning the rears.

Little is known about the exterior styling, other than it will follow the lead of the DS3 and DS4 with chrome highlights, additional LEDs and a sexier, more stylised design than the standard C5.

CarAdvice will bring you all the news from Shanghai from the beginning of next week.
