Renault Australia has become the first European brand to support its new passenger vehicle range with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
In expanding from its previous three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, Renault has joined Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi in offering five-year coverage in Australia (Mitsubishi warranty capped to 130,000km).
The new offer applies to new Megane hatch and Coupe-Cabriolet, Fluence, Koleos and Latitude models, and includes 24-hour roadside assistance for the length of the warranty.
The Renault Sport range (Clio and Megane models) continues to be offered with a three-year/100,000km warranty, while the Renault Light Commercial Vehicles range maintains its three-year/150,000km coverage.
Renault Australia managing director, Justin Hocevar, said the decision to offer an extended warranty was a strategic decision to improve the value and competitiveness of new French marque’s new passenger vehicles.
“We see the five-year warranty, coupled with this exceptional value proposition of our young range of modern, attainable vehicles, as adding a fundamental benefit to customers who are considering the purchase of a new Renault,” Mr Hocevar said.
“We are taking a firm leadership position as the first European brand to offer a five-year warranty. This underlines our commitment to this market and to our customers.”
French vehicles have long been typecast for their lack of reliability, and Mr Hocevar said the extended warranty would give customers more self-assurance in the choice.
“There is a business case behind this offer and it is built on the facts of modern-generation Renault reliability,” he said.
“There has been a perception in that past that Renault reliability was not great, but in the era of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, our warranty claims have fallen dramatically.
“We are confident this bold move by Renault will be quickly accepted by passenger car buyers across Australia.”
