Video: 2011 Hyundai Accent 3D projection mapping stunt

The latest stunt involved a new Hyundai Accent suspended in front of a city wall in Malaysia with a 3D projection mapping display occurring all around it.

Adding to the excitement, a driver scaled the wall Spiderman-style, jumped in and drove the car, spinning the wheels to match the scene.

The 3D projection mapping advertisement is similar to the Hot Wheels Secret Race Battle that took place last month on the façade of Sydney’s Customs House.

Hyundai Australia confirmed the Accent would return to Australia late in the third quarter of 2011, following closely behind the similarly styled Hyundai Elantra small sedan, which is also due in Q3.

The Accent is expected to be priced and equipped in line with the i20 hatch, although official details will be revealed closer to its launch.

At 4370mm long, 1705mm wide and 1455mm tall, the Accent’s dimensions are almost the same as the Honda City, which will make it one of the smallest sedans available in Australia.

Overseas, the Accent is available with two petrol engines and one diesel, although Australia is likely to get just the petrol units. The first is a 1.4-litre with 79kW and 136Nm of torque, while the larger 1.6-litre engine produces 91kW and 156Nm.

China NCAP put the Accent through crash testing earlier this year and awarded it the maximum five-star rating, meaning it will also be one of the safest new cars on the road when it arrives in around six months’ time.
