2012 Ford Mondeo spy shots
Our spy photographers recently captured the upcoming 2012 Ford Mondeo while it was being transported. The new model will be a global car much like the new Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta models and will be sold in various international markets.
The next-generation Mondeo will incorporate a new CD4 platform which will be shared with America's Lincoln MKZ and the Ford Fusion.
The testing car in these images may look like a common European-specification, current-model Ford Mondeo but according to our photographers it is a prototype simply wearing the old/existing body style as a disguise.
The new model will incorporate Ford's 'Kinetic' design philosophy, which is expected to bring a sharp front bumper bar and headlight design like the upcoming Ford Focus, along with all new taillights and a redesigned rear end.
A range of new engine packages is also expected to make an appearance on the new model, including Ford's new EcoBoost four-cylinder turbocharged engine, a diesel variant and a possible hybrid version as well.
Recent reports say this model will be available in sedan, wagon and a new four-door coupe layout too which should spice things up a bit. We'll keep you updated with more information as it comes.
