Skoda Yeti coming to Australia in July

The Czechs are set to launch the highly-anticipated Skoda Yeti into the Australian market in July. Like the Fabia, the Yeti will use the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne as a launchpad to gain maximum exposure.

The Yeti's main aim is to appeal to a younger demographic and position Skoda as the entry brand of the Volkswagen Group. To do this, it needs to attract buyers that are looking at a Japanese or Korean compact SUV and would have thought a European car was out of their price range (and hence be pleasantly surprised).

The Skoda Yeti is destined to be very competitive price-wise and take the fight to the Asian manufacturers not only on its quirky and unique style and character but also on value for money.

The Skoda Yeti will be available in both 2WD and 4WD variants but engine specifications for the Australian market are still unconfirmed. In other markets the Yeti is available with a 1.2-litre petrol with 77kW (77TSI), 1.8-litre with 118kW (118TSI) and 2.0-litre turbodiesel. We suspect a similar line-up to be available here.
