Update: Read 2011 Skoda Octavia Scout Review.
Skoda Australia has released the new 2011 Skoda Scout 4×4. It comes in two variants, the standard Skoda Scout 4×4 and the Skoda Scout 4×4 Premium, both of which are now available in either six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch DSG form.
The new Skoda Scout 4×4 comes with a revised 103TDI turbo-diesel engine that produces 103kW of power and 320Nm of torque. Although engine outputs are the same as the previous model, a new common-rail diesel injection system has been implemented to improve average fuel economy. Both the manual and DSG versions now come with a fuel consumption rating of 6.1L/100km, down 0.5L/100km.
Safety-wise, the new Scout 4×4 gets ESP (electronic stability control), six airbags, ABS, electronic brake distribution, anti-slip regulation, Hill Hold Control and, of course, an all-wheel drive system. The all-paw system is a fourth-generation Haldex set-up.
The introduction of the Premium variant means buyers can now enjoy a little bit of luxury with the Scout. On top of the extensive list of standard features, including a Columbus satellite navigation system, 17-inch wheels, parking sensors and fog lights, the Premium also gets an electric sunroof, Alcantara leather interior and an electronically adjustable driver’s seat with memory functions.
Skoda Australia boss, Matthew Wiesner, said at the launch of the new model,
“We are excited to offer what we believe is the best all-round package in this segment. With the new DSG transmission and Premium model additions, we are able to offer a unique package which appeals to a wider audience.”
On top of the features list, the Skoda Scout 4×4 is also a practical wagon with plenty of interior space. With the rear seats folded flat, the rear compartment area is rated at 1620 litres, and 580 litres with the rear 60/40 seats in the normal upright position. The Skoda Scout 4×4 also features a handy poke-through hole which can be opened in the middle of the rear seats to make carrying long objects a little easier.
