Video: Caparo T1 driven by Mika Hakkinen

The Caparo T1, also known as the road-going Formula One car. The team at EVO magazine in the UK recently went for a drive in a Caparo T1 on the Goodwood estate with former F1 champion Mika Hakkinen behind the wheel.

The video pretty much speaks for itself, showcasing the brutal acceleration potential of the T1. Hakkinen doesn't seem too shy with the throttle either and even does a couple of standing-start launches in the car to see what's what.

In case you end up wondering what produces the fierce high-revving sounds, it's a 3.5-litre Menard V8 engine, an engine originally designed for Indy car racing. It produces 429kW of power at 10,500rpm and 420Nm of torque at 9000rpm. In a car with a dry weight of just 420kg, it comes as no surprise that the T1 is able to sprint from 0-100km/h in under 2.5 seconds. Take a look below.
