According to German motoring magazine, Auto Motor und Sport, the upcoming BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo four-door coupe could be branded as an all-new BMW 4 Series.
It is just a rumour at this stage, but reports say the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo – which will be like the BMW 5 Series GT in the sense that it will be a four-door coupe version of the sedan – is currently well into development stages and should be on the market by 2013. But German sources are saying this model might not be a 3 Series but in fact a 4 Series.
If this is the case it will be the first ever BMW 4 Series and one of the biggest moves in the company’s recent history. Not since the introduction of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW X3 in 2004 has the company brought out an all-new model.
Regardless of whether car will retain a 3 Series badge or adopt a 4 Series brand, the new sleek four-door coupe will rival the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback and the Volkswagen Passat CC. We’ll keep you updated in any case.
