New Hyundai Accent confirmed for Australia

Hyundai Australia will launch the all-new Accent in the Australian market towards the end of third quarter this year.

Following on from the new Hyundai Elantra, the Korean company will attempt to cater to those that appriciate the Hyundai i20 for its size and practicality but need a sedan.

The light-segment entry will see Hyundai further expand its range as it seeks to gain more market share in Australia.

Hyundai is currently the fifth-largest automotive company worldwide with sales exceeding 5.75 million units last year.

The Korean's plan to catch the Japanese is on track with forecasts of a 10 percent increase in sales for 2011 (6.33 million units gloablly).

The new Hyundai Accent is yet another model in Hyundai's range that has continued the fluid sculpture design language (although to a lesser extent than the Elantra).

Little is known about the Accent's specifications or pricing at this stage, however we do suspect it will retail for a similar price to the i20.

The last Accent to see Australian shores was a model year 2007 (it continued selling into 2009) which started from $15,490.
