2006-2009 Peugeot 307, 308, 407, Expert recalled

Peugeot Automobiles Australia has recalled 7051 Peugeot 307, 308, 407 and Expert vehicles over an issue with the engine vacuum pump.

The affected vehicles were built between December 2006 and September 2009 and all feature Peugeot’s HDi diesel engines (with and without the FAP particulate filter).

The official recall notice on the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission website explains:

“The valve on the vacuum pump in the brake assistance circuit may have a manufacturing non-conformity.

“In time the defect could alter the braking assistance.”

Peugeot Automobiles Australia’s Kirin Tipping said the notice was a global recall sent out by parent company PSA. No incidents or accidents have been reported in Australia so far.

She said recalled vehicles would have their brake vacuum circuit inspected and defective vehicles would have a component of the vacuum pump replaced. She said the full recall service should take no more than two hours.

Peugeot will send a registered letter to all owners of affected vehicles at their last known address. Owners are advised to make an appointment with their servicing dealer to have the necessary rectifications made, free of charge.

Peugeot issued a similar recall at the beginning of 2008 for defective engine vacuum pumps in 307 and 407 models.
