2011 Brabus 700 BiTurbo SLS at Geneva

What could possibly be better than a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing? A Brabus-tuned model, of course. Brabus provided a teaser image of such a car last week, but now the German Mercedes-Benz tuning specialist has revealed the car in full at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. It's called the Brabus 700 BiTurbo.

As the name of the car suggests, the Brabus 700 BiTurbo comes with a twin-turbo engine outputting 700 horsepower (522kW). The engine is a bespoke Brabus unit which uses two turbochargers that are said to rotate separate ways. Brabus says these opposite-rotation turbochargers eliminate turbolag and improve throttle response.

Response isn't really an issue though when you've got 850Nm of torque available. Brabus says the 700 BiTurbo will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds - not bad for a rear-wheel drive. It'll also keep going on to a top speed of 340km/h. The engine also benefits from water-to-air intercoolers, custom forged pistons and electronic boost control.

The BiTurbo is also fitted with a light-weight titanium exhaust system that is 12kg lighter than the standard SLS AMG system. This exhaust includes an electronic butterfly valve that can be opened and shut to vary flow and noise levels via a switch inside the cabin. Interestingly, after all these modifications - including the exhaust - Brabus has managed to keep the 700 BiTurbo within Euro 5 emissions standards.

Cosmetically, the Brabus SLS 700 BiTurbo is fitted with a Brabus Widestar bodykit that was designed in a wind tunnel for optimum downforce and aerodynamic balance. It comprises of extended rear flares, carbon fibre front and rear bumper bar highlights and a rear splitter/diffuser. There's also a number of carbon fibre trimming details added to various aspects of the exterior to aid aerodynamic efficiency.

Inside the wheel arches sit 20 by 9.5 inch wheels on the front and 21 by 11 inch wheels on the rear. These are then supported by a comprehensive Bilstein adjustable suspension kit.

The interior has also been treated to a number of bespoke Brabus touches, such as a 400km/h speedo cluster and a new Brabus sports steering wheel. There's also a complete bespoke Brabus cross-stitched leather interior with matching dashboard highlights.
