Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 revealed in full detail

Lamborghini has released full details of its new benchmark supercar, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The car will make an official debut at the Geneva Motor Show later this evening.

As previously mentioned, the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 features an all new 6.5-litre V12 engine outputting 515kW of power and 690Nm of torque. Lamborghini says the LP700-4 will manage the 0-100km/h sprint in just 2.9 seconds. The engine will also provide a top speed of 350km/h thanks to a new Independent Shifting Rod seven-speed dual-synchronise transmission.

The car will feature an all-new carbon fibre monocoque tub that makes up the central aspect of the chassis. Attached to this tub is a system of high-strength aluminium tubing which makes up the suspension fundamentals. The rear suspension also comprises of an all-new pushrod setup, using horizontal struts similar to a formula-class open-wheel race car.

Almost all of the car has been engineered with one main goal; to be as lightweight as possible. Since the majority of the chassis is made from extremely light carbon fibre composite and the suspension components are made from aluminium, it has allowed the entire vehicle to weigh just 1575kg.

As per previous model Lamborghinis, the '4' in the model name means it is all-wheel drive. Lamborghini has fitted a Haldex eletronic four-wheel drive system to the new Aventador which is capable of providing ultimate traction to each wheel. It also adjusts power distribution for optimum performance along the way.

Additionally, the Aventador is also fitted with an electronic stability program (ESP) that sends power to the wheels with the most traction, accordingly. The rear differential is a self-locking type while the front differential is controlled via the ESP system.

Of course, the main attraction to the new Aventador is the all-new body styling. It features very sharp angles with a pointy front nose, mimicking the Lamborghini Reventon. The rear of the car presents a 'cut-off' design, complimented by huge heat-extraction vents below both tail lights.

An aspect we haven't seen in full detail is the interior. The Aventador interior showcases modern convenience matched with aggressive styling. There's a centre LCD touch screen interface which provides occupants with controls to almost all of the in-car comfort and entertainment systems.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 price has been announced for international markets. The Lamborghini Aventador will be available from 255,000 euro (AU$346,600), with deliveries expected to begin midway through the year.

Australian pricing and availability is yet to be finalised.
