The R 350 is powered by a new 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine, which produces 195kW of power and 620Nm of torque (SWB makes 140kW/440Nm). Combined cycle fuel consumption is 8.5 litres/100km and CO

emissions are 223g/km (0.8 litres/100km and 23g/km lower than the R 300 CDI). Accelerating from 0-100km/h takes just 7.7 seconds, more than two seconds quicker than the R 300 despite weighing 195kg more in LWB form.

The R 350 is 5157mm long, 1922mm wide, 1674mm tall and has a 3215mm wheelbase. Compared with the R 300 it is 235mm longer, and all that additional space is between the wheels. Boot capacity in the LWB ranges from 633 litres to 2385 litres, up from 550 litres and 1950 litres in the SWB. The turning circle of the R 350 also grows from 11.8m to 12.6m.

On top of the R 300 CDI’s standard features list, the R 350 CDI LWB gets 21-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, leather upholstery, Thermotronic luxury climate control, Blind Spot Assist and electrically adjustable steering column and mirrors (with memory function).

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz R 350 CDI LWB will be available from March for $108,900 – a $16,700 premium over the $92,200 R 300 CDI.

Note: Manufacturer’s list prices quoted include GST and LCT but exclude dealer delivery and all on road costs.
