2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class spy photos

The pinnacle of motoring technology is about to get a whole new outlook on life with the 2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class undergoing rigorous testing.

Photographed testing in -30 C conditions, the new S-Class is set to be yet another step forward in the automotive world as the model has traditionally always showcased the latest in car technology and given us a good idea of what we should expect in everyday cars in the coming years.

From what we can tell, the front lights are slightly smaller and they are expected to come with full LED technology. We suspect the grille will be more upright than the current model but not as stylish as the F700 Concept.

Although it will be powered by far more fuel efficient engines across the lineup, it's unlikely to be any lighter given the array of gadgets and technology packed on board.

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch three hybrid options with the new S-Class, including mild, full and plug-in. The new S-Class is expected to go on sale in 2012.
