2011 Red Bull Racing RB7 vehicles unveiled in Spain

Red Bull Racing has unveiled the new RB7 Formula One car that Australian Mark Webber will be aiming to pilot to his maiden Drivers’ World Championship in 2011.

Webber will drive the Number 2 car this season, alongside teammate and 2010 Championship winner Sebastian Vettel who earned the Number 1.

The vehicles were unveiled at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit near Valencia, Spain, overnight where they completed their first public laps.

Red Bull Racing chief technical officer Adrian Newey said the biggest challenge over the off-season was incorporating KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) into the design, a feature that has been reintroduced for the 2011 season.

“It's always a challenge to find solutions which don't compromise the aerodynamics of the car,” Mr Newey said.

“This season, with McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes all having KERS, we need to get it to work, simply for performance off the line.”

It has been just 11 weeks since Sebastian Vettel drove to victory in Abu Dhabi, and it is now less than six weeks until the two new vehicles will defend their Constructors’ Championship in the first round at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
