2017 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA recalled with steering fault
A joint fault could compromise steering, according to the manufacturer.
Mercedes-Benz has recalled 2847 examples of its 2017 A-Class, B-Class, CLA (shown above) and GLA models, citing a potential steering system fault.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The component in the universal joint of the steering shaft was not manufactured to specifications. Which may restrict the ability to steer the vehicle over time.
“If the steering does not perform as expected there is an increased risk of an accident resulting in injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz and are asked to make arrangements with their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible.”
