Volkswagen Australia has just launched a sporty Tiguan derivative that uses the Golf GTI’s powerful turbo engine, but what about a hypothetical ‘Tiguan R’, or even Europe's existing 176TDI diesel range-topper with a mighty 500Nm punch? Neither are on the radar for Australia, despite Volkswagen's local arm expressing its deepest desires to get its hands on one, or both...

Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI: Dominant sales expected for performance SUV

Volkswagen Australia's research suggests at least one-in-five Tiguan buyers will go for the hotted-up 162TSI Highline derivative. The pseudo Golf GTI on stilts will arrive next week at a starting price of $48,490 plus on-road costs, around $54k drive-away, slotting it just below the 140TDI Highline. 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace revealed in Detroit: Seven-seat SUV here next year

The US-market long-wheelbase Volkswagen Tiguan, which will be known here as the Tiguan Allspace when it arrives in the first half of 2018, has been officially revealed at the Detroit motor show this week. Based on the company's modular MQB architecture – which underpins an array of models from the Golf hatch to the Atlas large SUV – the stretched Tiguan features up to seven seats and a wheelbase that is 112mm longer than the short-wheelbase version already on sale in Australia...

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace leaked in overseas press

Images of the upcoming 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, or Tiguan L in markets like China, have been leaked online ahead of the SUV's debut at the Detroit motor show next month. After being teased in sketches last week, these images published on autonocion.com, the images show the Chinese version, badged Tiguan L, with a longer wheelbase - which has been stretched by 110mm - and rear doors...

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace seven-seater teased ahead of Detroit debut

There'll be a new, larger version of the Volkswagen Tiguan shown off at the 2017 Detroit motor show - and it'll be called the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. The longer Allspace version of the Volkswagen Tiguan will see the mid-sized SUV offered with up to seven seats, with a release from Volkswagen stating that the new model will be known as Allspace in Europe, but simply as Tiguan in China and America...

The 2017 model-year Volkswagen Tiguan has been recalled over concerns the front seat backrests may be faulty, with 707 vehicles affected.
