BMW X3 60 Second Spin

The new BMW X3 is bigger, faster, and more fuel efficient than the model it replaces. BMW has amped up the standard features and still managed to cut the price. Overall styling is good, except maybe at the front, which is guaranteed to polarize customer opinion some people are already saying there's a touch too much sanguine up the pointy end, the new electric assisted steering feels slightly big but it does help cut fuel consumption.

The front seats are not especially supportive, and that's a real pity on an SUV with such fantastic grip. Rear seat leg room, luggage space and two ton towing capacity all deserve big ticks. Prices range from 62,200 to 74,900, but the options list is long than the Middle East peace process, making it easy for your local BMW dealer to accommodate any hypothetical amount of spare cash you feel like lobbing his way.

Overall, you'd have to give the new X3 at least 8 out of 10. This is John Cadogan at the X3 launch in Queensland, reporting for Car Advice.
