The Swift is Suzuki's most popular car in Australia. It's the number five light car trailing behind Gets, Yaris Mazda 2 and Berena [sp?]. It'll cost you between $16,000, and as much as $24,000 for the Sport. is [xx] least affordable car in the country with really sporty aspirations joining me in the studio to discuss whether the rest of the Swift is strange is a big fat misnomer or not, car advice road tester, Anthony Crawford.
So, Anthony, is it swift or not? It is swift. It's one of the most sporty cars in the class, best ride in the class, best handling in the class. This is a seriously good car and it's been around since 2005 and it's still a good drive. Getting long in the tooth. There must be some things that you didn't like.
What were they? Look, The styling its still cool, although it has been around for so many years, but they have got a new car coming next. in 2011. Not a lot of styling difference 'cause this is still a great selling car. What I don't like is it's still got drums on the here and I don't like the fact that you can't get stability control across the standard swift range.
You got to up the [xx] of the sport. to get done. If you had to live with another car tomorrow a Mazda 2 or a Swift, what would it be? I'd go the Swift personally because I like the styling in fact I'd probably go to the Sport, its probably one my favorite performance cars for under 25 thousand bucks.
What makes it so sporty? Nothing drives like a swift in terms of that going around corners of possibility, no body role, it drives like a sports car, the others done Can you be happy just driving it to and from the shops?
Yeah can you got the speed bumps in the shopping center and its jarring through the snazzy. Its complined is almost the entire bump so you can have a good ride to the shop, so you can have a good ride going out for a fling.
So how about Mom and two kids and all the groceries? in the back, still an appropriate car for that. Look it is an appropriate car for mom and the kids and the groceries but I will counter that by saying The design of the Swift cuts away at the rear, almost like a blocked though there's probably not as much space in the swift, the as there is in its competitors.
How much better do you think the new Swift can be? Well, the car industry never goes backwards so you can expect a better car than the current generation's. Swift? Not a doubt. We'll get a safety upgrade that will include stability control, we might get more airbags, we'll probably loose the drums off the standard Swift and we'll get the discs A better car for sure.
If you're in the,market for a Swift what are the other absolute must go for a test drive cars. Ford Fiesta which I love the styling of, you've got to test drive, you've got to test drive the Yaris because it is so popular. Although I dare say that the personality you get in Swift far outweighs those other cars.
