In the world of super car shopping, many buyers opt for such fashionable logos as the Prancing horse of Ferrari, or the raging bull of Lambergini. But what about the tick of British company McLaren? This is the MP4 12C. And intriguingly, it takes the intensive rivalry of McLaren and Ferrari in Formula One from the race track to the road.

McLaren has been involved in racing since it was founded in 1963 but it remains relatively new as a manufacturer of super cars. It made a famous first foray into exotic road going machines with the McLaren F1 that during the 1990s claimed the mantle of world's fastest production car. Only a hundred F1s were ever made, however the MP4-12C will not only be built in bigger numbers but it also heralds a whole range of super cars that will emerge from the companies high tech hub in the humble English town [xx] The Mclaren F1 was distinctive for it's central driving position.

But while the MP4 has a more conventional driver seat on this side, well there are still elements that can make it just like Lewis Hamilton. There's a carbon fiber monocoque cell just like an F1 car. There are pedal shift levers for changing gears just like an F1 And behind your head there is a very power V8 engine.

The twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter is mounted behind the driver and produces more power and torque than the MP4's key rival, the Ferrari 458 Italia. We're just tootling along in the Mclaren at the moment. and it's a surprising comfortable cruiser. Let's just call this a warm up lap because it's time to do a qualifying effort and see what this thing can really do.

the engine barks aggressively into life on start-up, but is relatively restrained at low speed. with a 7 speed jewel clutch auto, shifting into a higher gear quickly to take advantage of the vast reserves of a low down torque. Oh my word This thing is quick. Naught to a hundred in 3.3 second. A whole kilometer in 19.6 seconds.

[xx] I'm sure you'll agree it make quite a glorious sound while doing all this. Of course, Mclaren and wouldn't have won 8 [xx] constructors titles and 12 drivers championships if its cars could only go fast in a straight line. companies engineers have done something rather ingenious with the MP4's suspension.

To give it the kind of flat cornering starts the teams F1 drivers will be quite familiar with The MP4-12C actually doesn't feature anti-roll bars. Instead it uses hydraulically pressurized this, and the result is just sensational handling. It has incredible composure and grip. It just sticks to the road like glue.

Mclaren has even designed the MP4 so that the highest point of the front wheel [xx] is directly over the front wheels working as a sight line for the drivers to help them better likes the car on the road or track and [xx] suspension and [xx] switching dials [xx] handling and performance on the center console.

It's indicative of the brilliant simplicity and focus found around the car. Some critics have accused the MP4 of lacking soul but if you understand McLaren as a company, this is a car that reflects its fastidious technical Super cars should always bring an epic driving experience and in that respect the MP4-12C truly delivers.

It brings genuine full on technology and thinking to the driveway and Ferrari should be very concerned, indeed.
