Volvo S90: Chinese production for Australian market 'inevitable'

The first made-in-China Volvo S90 sedans have arrived in Europe via a new rail link joining China to Europe - but Europe won't be the only region to take Volvo cars from Chinese production. For now, all Australian-delivered Volvo cars are built in Sweden, but the opening of three plants in China - which will also build the company's new-generation 60- and 40-series cars - will soon see at least the S90 come to Australia from China...

The 2017 Volvo S90 R-Design has quietly joined the local range, starting from $100,900 before on-road costs. Sporting more aggressive styling and the punchier T6 petrol powertrain - which develops a healthy 235kW of power and 400Nm of torque - the S90 T6 R-Design is the Swedish firm's entrant to duel with the likes of the BMW 540i and Mercedes-Benz E400...

2017 Volvo S90 D4 review: Long-term report two - highway and country driving

We introduced you to our Volvo S90 D4 long-termer last month, and have promptly racked up about 1400km of driving in our 'entry level' variant. Given its diesel engine, long-distance cruising should quite obviously be this car's forte. Volvo's corporate tagline 'shake the world gently' is especially apt when considering the manner in which its flagship sedan (kicking off at $80k) drives...

2017 Volvo S90 D4 review: Long-term report one - introduction

There are a few really good reasons why the Volvo S90 D4 Momentum is a great addition to our growing Melbourne long-term fleet. The Swedish sedan is a bit of an unknown quantity, being so new to market against an established competitor set. Moreover, we’re yet to put this lower-level variant through the wringer...
