Recall for Volvo S80, XC60 and XC70

Volvo Car Australia is recalling just under 500 vehicles equipped with the D5 diesel engine due to a fault with the auxiliary drive belt. The recall affects 484 vehicles: the 2009 model year S80, XC60 and XC70 with the D5. The global announcement from Volvo Car Corporation said there was a chance the drive belt could break, rendering the power steering heavy. Ford, Geely deal on Volvo sale expected on February 8

Reports from within China suggest a deal between Ford Motor Co and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co over the sale of Volvo could be signed on February 8. The Hangzhou-based Geely is expected to pay between $1.7 billion to $2.2 billion for the embattled Swedish manufacturer, more than $5 billion less than Ford bought it for in 1999. IIHS releases 2010 US Safest Car list

The US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety introduced a far more stringent standard when awarding its coveted Top Safety list this year with a renewed focus on heightened roof strength test standards.
