Chevrolet Camaro on sale in Australia

Chevrolet Camaro fans need not be disappointed at GM’s decision to not import the iconic sports coupe into Australia, as the car will be available for sale here from around October.

Queensland based company Performax International will be the first importer and right-hand drive converter for the hero car in Australia.

Chevrolet Volt nabs 230mpg rating

General Motors’ upcoming green flagship, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, has received an official fuel consumption rating of 230 miles per gallon or just 1.022 litres per 100km.

This makes the Volt the first car ever to receive a triple digit fuel economy rating, although this figure may not be as impressive as it sounds.

Toyota in Japan plans to start mass-producing plug-in hybrid vehicles in 2012, with a projected first-year output of about 20,000 to 30,000 units, the Nikkei business daily reported.

Camaro supply can’t match demand

Despite GM’s financial troubles it seems to have a hit on its hands when it comes to the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with strong demand severely outstripping supply.

After taking more than 10,000 pre-orders, GM is struggling to fill the 25,000 dealer back-orders that have so far been recorded with only 5463 units having been delivered.

Lexus back on top in quality survey

Lexus has reclaimed the top spot in JD Power and Associates’ annual ranking of initial quality, while the Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota brands ranked virtually even in the benchmark survey.

Porsche slipped to second after holding the title for three years in the market research firm’s Initial Quality Study, released today.

Corvette builds 1.5 millionth car
