2016 Skoda Superb Wagon Review

Read the article here. Czech carmaker Skoda is generally regarded at one of Volkswagen’s cut-price brands, but just one glance at the latest Skoda Superb wagon turns that notion on its head. The Superb is a ludicrously large family wagon that also offers an exhaustive list of features and creature comforts, a four-cylinder turbo engine from one of the world’s most celebrated hot hatches, while looking genuinely sporty from any angle...

Skoda Superb Estate - rain sensor demonstration

James parks his Skoda Superb Estate and accidentally leaves the windows down, and to make matters worse it’s about to rain. Luckily the Skoda rain sensor has it covered!

Skoda Superb Comparisons

Luxury sedan comparison part one: Hyundai Genesis v Jaguar XF v Infiniti Q70 v Lexus GS v Skoda Superb

What is luxury? Is it power? Is it control? Is it desirability? All-out plushness? Or just space? Is it a combination of all of those things? And if it is a combination, to what degree does cost and inclusions play a part in determining the luxuriousness of a car? That's what this test aims to find out: we have five sedans here that have some or perhaps all of those aspects covered, though none of them are the usual suspects from Germany...

Five niche cars with growing sales

Everyone loves a left-of-centre battler, but when it comes to cars, few buy them. At least in a market like Australia, which is hugely competitive but dominated by a small number of big fish like Toyota, Mazda, Holden and Hyundai. But a scan through VFACTS sales figures also shows that, every year, there are a few lesser-known cars that for a variety of reasons enter another gear, sales-wise...

2017 Skoda Superb recalled for seatbelt fix

Skoda has issued a recall for seven of its 2017 model-year Superb medium cars over concerns the seatbelt tensioner may not deploy in an accident. The Czech manufacturer reports the condition could be caused by variations in the mixture of the ratio of the tensioner's propellant. If the belt tensioners are not deployed correctly in an accident, occupants could be at higher risk of injury...

2017 Skoda Superb 206TSI review

Close the door. Foot on the brake. Press the button where the ignition key usually goes. Welcome to Skoda. In this case a Superb wagon with 206TSI engine and AWD. And a huge sunroof. And self steering, stopping, and parking. And 10-colour interior lighting (its a MY17 build). And space, acres of space. And umbrellas, two. And I’ll stop quoting features now...

2012 Skoda Superb 103TDI Ambition review

It's a minefield when the time comes to purchase a new car. Plenty of brands and models that generally meet requirements, but not quite. Then comes Skoda. There's a backstory to this purchase. We returned from three years in the UK to an old and none-too-reliable Renault 21. It goes down as the worst car I've owned. An eight-year old Citroen Xantia replaced it...

2017 Skoda Superb 162TSI review

We took delivery of our MY17 Skoda Superb 162TSI wagon with optioned Tech Pack about six weeks ago. Until this point we have only ever owned Toyota Corollas, so the step up in class was immediate and apparent. I should add, I’m not a car enthusiast by any means, and have previously only viewed cars as a necessity for getting from A to B (hence the Corollas), so please excuse any technical inaccuracies in this review...

2012 Skoda Superb 191 FSI V6 Elegance review

I have never appreciated a car more than this after 50 years of 4WDs, sedans, wagons – the lot. Four years on and the name says it all. The Suberb is an excellent touring car which this country-based owner needs. Our needs were for a powerful, reliable wagon with possible 4WD for improved road holding in variable weather...
