Pros: Fuel economy, comfort,
Cons: Lower gear for towing

Price: $9,720 to $17,280
The X-Trail with its 2 tonne towing capacity and 4x4 mode was chosen to tow our A liner Avan, and when loaded, was only 1.040 tonne. After the first service we started our towing trip to Tassie and it was a breeze: easy to drive, comfortable and economical with only the cruise control to get used to and now love. We did 18,000km in 3 months and travelled a lot of dirt roads, many of which we should not have and the X-Trail never let us down. And with its great turning circle we never got stuck. We always drove in auto 4x4 mode because of the front-wheel drive and it was just great on loose surfaces, wet roads and on steep slopes, etc. The only problem was starting on an incline and peak hour traffic such as Sydney's Victoria Road (see cons).
