Victoria’s oldest hoon nabbed

While media focus on P-plate traffic incidents continues to fill the headlines, it is worth mentioning that a 78-year-old Victorian man has become the oldest person to have his car impounded under the new hoon laws.

Toyota to develop $5,000 car

Last year was a tough year for all manufacturers, even the world’s biggest (and arguably the most successful) manufacturer, Toyota, reported its first-ever annual operating loss. The Japanese giant has today announced that it will halt all plans to build new factories in Thailand and Russia.

Toyota notes the current decline and slowing demand for cars worldwide as the cause. The company is also faced with a crippling rise in the yen, making exports less profitable.

2009 Saab 9-3 Aero TTiD long term update

Paul Maric

After leaving our last post on the Aero TTiD with such high praise, things have taken a slight down turn following my most recent set of travels.

One of the first things I did after the last update was a run through the mountains. The first thing I noticed which remained evident through the entire trip was the torque-steer. It’s not too vicious, but is amplified due to the light steering.

Car confiscation in new P-plater plan

Car confiscation in new P-plater planA new plan will be put to the New South Wales government that will allow police to confiscate cars from P-platers for three months if they are caught driving more than 20km/h over the speed limit.

The proposal follows five serious P-plater accidents in as many days, one of which resulted in the death of a 15-year-old Bondi girl.

It has already gained the support of Superintendent John Hartley, head of the police traffic command in New South Wales.
