2016 Mazda CX-3 Akari (FWD) Review
We purchased this car earlier in 2016 as stock started to become available again on the market after a long shortage.
- Style, Fuel economy, Performance, Quality of Fitout., Heads up display and NAV System.
- Wing mirrors don't automatically retract., No Auto dimming Rear vision mirror.
This is the first compact SUV's we have purchased and must say it is one of the best purchases we have made. Great ride height, great looks and amazing fuel economy are just some of the highlights on this car.
Interior: The general layout of the car inside is good with great finish. We added Blue LED lighting to the footwell's and aluminium foot pedals. The car is missing an arm rest - you can buy one but we have become use to the absence.
The overall space is okay but with the front seat right back, there is no room in the rear for anyone. The trunk is also really small but with the false tray, you can drop this down another 6-8" for more space.
The NAV and Audio is controlled from a big round button/joystick just below the gear shift. It's not the easiest system to navigate but it didn't take me long to get use to it. I especially love the over the speed warning voice that comes over the speakers.
Performance: When cold the engine performance is poor. Not only does it sound shocking it doesn't accelerator well. Once it warms up though, the engine is really quiet and does really well in the city. I have used the sports mode button for that extra kick but it can rev high and the engine doesn't seem to like it too much.
Fuel Economy: I'm getting 6.6L per 100km or around 650-680Km's per tank. (Around 44L's). I have been using 98 since we purchased though it can run on E10.
Servicing: The first service was only done recently at 10K and costs around $185.00 so can't fault the service so far.
Over all I really like this car a lot. If your looking at a Peugeot 208, Mazda 3 or Ford focus you really need to check this one out as well. I can only hope that by the time we upgrade in 3-4yrs the Mazda CX-4 is going to be available in Australia as we will need something slightly bigger.
