2015 Honda Odyssey VTi Review
This is my 4th VTi Odyssey and it is incredible how much extra space it has compared with previous models which have similar external dimensions.
- Comfort, Fuel economy, General driveability, Internal ambience, Build quality
- Sliding doors, Front doors can catch kerbs, Honda navigator link system
I dislike the sliding rear passenger doors and the designer of the Hondalink navigation system should be sacked as my cheap Garmin unit is much more intuitive and reliable.
The ride quality is also inferior to the previous model.
On the plus side, fuel economy, internal space, performance and responsiveness, general ambience, driving comfort and value for money have all been significantly improved.
The vehicle is very quite and the engine seems perfectly matched to the drivetrain. Before purchasing the vehicle I was apprehensive about the CVT gearbox but having driven the vehicle for 7000 kms over the past 3 months I have been very impressed with the drivetrain which performs more like a traditional automatic than a CVT.
I keep a record of my fuel consumption which has averaged 8.17 litres per 100 kms in a combination of city traffic and highway driving since purchasing the vehicle new in April 2015. Not bad for an 8 seater providing a comfortable drive!
Overall, despite my few dislikes, I really enjoy driving this vehicle and believe it offers the best value for money for a people mover taking into account the purchase price, build quality, and running costs including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, rego, insurance etc.
Well done Mr Honda once again however for future models hopefully you can improve the navigation system and replace the sliding doors with conventional hinged doors as fitted to previous models.
